1. Open your stance, your hips, feet, shoulders. Open equals to the left of the target for a righty and to the right of target for a lefty. This helps to promote an out to in swing path, necessary to hit a good sand shot.
2. Open the club face, and I mean open it! most people open it a little bit and then slam it shut on the forward swing causing the ball to fly across the green like a bullet. You know who I am talking about... The face needs to be OPEN.
3. If you are having problems with the open club face thing, try weakening your grip or rotate it to the left for a righty. This will help keep the face open through the sand. Now remember, when I say weaken your grip that does not mean have a loose grip, you really need to hold the club firmly in the sand... otherwise the face will close and you will be left beaching it...
4. Ball position for a normal lob bunker shot is forward of center, almost at your left heel for a righty.
