Success around the green is one of the keys to lowering your score. One thing to focus on is confidence with your selected club and avoiding deceleration at all costs. Be sure of your stroke and make it happen. One tricky spot around the green is the portion of the fairway leading up to the front of the green. The common misconception here is that the only option is a chip. However, during a recent round the amateur, golf tip genius Gabe White stated "putt that Steve." You will find that a putt from this area will be more successful than a botched chip off that short grass. Good Luck!!

This is one of golfs great debates,,, Should you use a variety of clubs around the green or should you use one club and stick to it?
Here is what I think.. Unless you have the time and discipline to practice chip and pitch shots with every club in your bag, I would recommend using one club for almost every short game shot. And this is why:
Using one club allows you to build confidence and comfort with that club.
Using one club allows you to develop better distance control.
