This is without a doubt the greatest course I have ever played. Merion Golf Club has both an East and West course, however the East course is the more famous and difficult of the two. The East course is very tight with incredibly thick rough and small, fast greens. I would love to have another shot at this course, so that I might improve on the embarrassing score I posted the first time around. The bunkers on Merion East are surrounded by a high fescue grass, which will make golfers feel as if they are playing across the big pond. The East course also features red wicker baskets atop the pins, instead of traditional flags. The baskets are only featured on the East course and make it difficult for golfers to judge the wind on approach shots. Both courses are always in excellent condition, but the East course has the history. This history will continue in 2013, when Merion East will yet again host the U.S. Open.
